Potato Soup Recipe

ingredients:

6 large potatoes, peeled and diced

1 onion, finely chopped

cloves garlic, minced

4 cups chicken or vegetable broth

1 cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons butter

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional toppings: shredded cheese, crispy bacon bits, chopped green onions

Recipe Steps:

  1. Begin with the Flavor Base: Melt butter in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Cook onions and garlic until softened and aromatic, imparting richness to the soup.
  2. Boil the Potatoes: Add diced potatoes to the pot, coating them in the buttery onion and garlic mixture. Pour in enough broth to cover the potatoes. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
  3. Puree the Soup: Once potatoes are cooked, use an immersion blender to puree the soup directly in the pot until smooth and creamy. If using a regular blender, blend carefully in batches, ensuring not to overfill. Return the blended soup to the pot.
  4. Incorporate the Cream: Stir in heavy cream, ensuring it’s well combined with the potato puree. Season with salt and pepper to taste, allowing flavors to meld together as the soup lightly simmers.
  5. Serve with Toppings: Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with preferred toppings such as cheese, bacon, or green onions.

The aroma of the soup filled the kitchen with warmth, enticing us to relish a comforting and gratifying meal. Seated at the table, we delighted in each spoonful, feeling the warmth permeate our bodies and spirits, cherishing the simple pleasures of homemade cuisine.
