Pioneer Woman Sausage Gravy

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: sage or thyme (if desired)
  • Frozen biscuits (such as Pillsbury Grands)

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned, breaking it up into crumbles. Leave the fat in the pan.
  2. Sprinkle the flour evenly over the cooked sausage. Stir well until no white spots of flour remain and the sausage is coated.
  3. Pour in the milk and stir well again to combine. Season with salt, pepper, and optional sage or thyme, if using.
  4. Continue cooking the gravy over medium heat until it starts to bubble, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  5. Taste the gravy and adjust seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed.
  6. Meanwhile, prepare the frozen biscuits according to the package instructions.
  7. Serve the sausage gravy over warm biscuits and enjoy this comforting breakfast dish!
