We love finding new ways to make family dinners more enjoyable. This Texas Cheese Toast goes great with Crock Pot Lasagna, Crock Pot Spaghetti, or Spaghetti Pizza Casserole.
Like restaurant bread, garlic cheese toast goes well with pot roast or pork chops. This recipe is a great way to use up stale bread over time. Kids love bread, so buying stale bread when it’s cheap is a great deal.
This cheese toast recipe includes the popular Stromboli garlic, oregano, and parmesan spread. This mixture adds great flavor to bread and cheese.
Ingredients required:
Texas Toast – Thickly cut square bread found in the bread aisle. Day-old bread works well for this recipe.
Butter – Melts and provides a medium to distribute herbs and spices throughout the bread.
Garlic Powder – Easier to apply than fresh minced garlic and can also be used as needed.
Oregano – Green herbal bits that add flavor, aroma, and eye appeal.
Parmesan Cheese – Creates a classic Italian cheese flavor.
Mozzarella – Melts well and adds creaminess.
Provolone – Slices can easily be placed on toast and topped with a thick layer of aromatic cheese.
Parsley – Add a nice garnish to the top if you like.
Air Fryer Texas Toasted Garlic Cheese Bread
Our family of four loves baking this garlic bread in the air fryer and toaster because the tray holds 6 pieces of Texas Toast and it heats up quickly. Although the toaster is most convenient for me, I definitely made this recipe in the oven. That works too.
Place the Cuisinart Air Fryer & Toaster Oven on your countertop so you can easily peek inside and watch the cheese bubble. Even if the sight of bubbly cheese doesn’t put a smile on your face, it probably will.
It’s easy to add a new twist to your favorite dishes by adding a few pepperonis to create a hearty appetizer or meal.
Cheese Texas Toast on the Grill
Grilling is one of my favorite ways to prepare dinner when the weather is nice. Being able to cook everything on the grill reduces clutter and reduces the amount of dishes in your home. Marinated pork chops or sweet and sour chicken skewers make a great meal, paired with a slice of cheesy Texas toast.
When making grilled cheese toast, I always use a layer of foil to prevent burning and to heat the bread more evenly. Sturdy aluminum foil is preferable because it’s thicker, but regular foil is better than nothing.
Placing the bread on the top rack allows you to warm the bread and melt the cheese without increasing the heat on the bottom rack.
Tips for Making Cheese Toast
Thick bread is best for this recipe as it’s packed with cheese and lots of flavor.
Sometimes I like to slice Italian or French bread and add this garlic and cheese mixture to it.
When using foil for the solid tray of a toaster oven. Cover the tray tightly so that loose ends do not restrict airflow.
You can butter both sides of the toast if you like, but I like to spread the garlic flavor between the toast and the melted cheese.
For maximum flavor, it’s best to combine at least two types of cheese.
