Making keto stuffed peppers

Although this meal is low carb, it has 12 grams of net carbs per serving, which is not low enough to be ketogenic. You can easily make this recipe keto-friendly with a few simple substitutions.

If you’re on a keto diet and want to cut down on your carbs even further, try this solution:

Zucchini boats contain just over half of the net carbs, making them a great choice for bell peppers. This is a replacement product.
Leeks/Alliums contain about half the carbohydrates of red onions, making them a safer choice for keto recipes.

These simple changes reduce the net carbohydrate count to approximately 6 grams of carbohydrates per serving.

Does an authentic Philadelphia cheesesteak have green peppers?

Green peppers are not required in a Philadelphia cheesesteak. The main ingredients of an authentic Philadelphia cheesesteak sandwich are bread, steak, cheese, and onions. Many places add green peppers to add crunch, but there’s no hard and fast rule to add them. This recipe combines all your favorite flavors of the classic sandwich, but without any of the carbs.
Do I need to cook the peppers before stuffing them?

This stuffed pepper recipe requires no cooking. Before stuffing the peppers, just cook them in the oven at 200°C for about 10 minutes. After stuffing, cook for another 15 minutes.

How can I make it soft?

Some people prefer a soft pepper bowl to a hard pepper bowl. If that’s you, it’s really easy to make like this! Heat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit instead of 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Stuff the peppers, but remove the cheese and cover with aluminum foil. Bake for 1 hour, then remove the foil cover and add the cheese, salt and pepper. Bake for another 5-10 minutes until the cheese is melted and serve.
